Research and Innovation Programme

Objective

The objective of the programme is to further strengthen the research excellence and innovation capacities of Polish research organizations, universities and enterprises (with an emphasis on micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as engines of innovation and job creation) by facilitating the research and innovation cooperation with the Swiss and international partners.

The programme will also strengthen the relations of Polish research and innovation community with leading research and development entities in Europe and the internationalization of research.

Who can apply

The funds from the Research and Innovation Programme are availible to:

  • universities,
  • research institutes,
  • other entities conducting research and employing researchers,
  • entrepreneurs (with an emphasis on micro, small and medium-sized enterpises),
  • scientists.

Areas of support

The funds will be available for basic and applied research. 

Budget

The programme budget is 41,176 million Swiss francs, including:

  • 35 million - Swiss contribution,
  • 6,176 million - Polish contribution.

Calls for proposals

There are currently no open calls for proposals within the Research and Innovation Programme. 

Call for proposals in the field of basic research has been announced on April 2, 2024 and closed on July 1, 2024.

Two calls for proposals have been planned in the field of applied research. First of them was announced on April 22, 2024 and closed on July 1, 2024. The second one is planned for 2025. 

Programme operator

The programme has two operators:

  • for applied research, it's the National Centre for Research and Development,
  • for basic research, it's the Swiss National Science Foundation.

These Programme Operators cooperate with partners:

  • in the field of applied research with the Swiss innovation agency - Innosuisse,
  • in the field of basic research with the Polish National Science Centre (NCN).
